FILMMKAER Claudia Hébert is a Toronto-based director of short fiction and Cinédance. In 2017, his film Le Déni won the prize for best French-Canadian work at the RVQC. His most recent fiction, Les Deuxièmes (2017), is adapted from the comic strip of the same name by Zviane. In 2019, she turned to podcasting and wrote and directed Vraisemblable, a series of stories based on real-life experiences. Graduated in Film Production at Concordia and York Universities, Claudia was for a long time in charge of the film offer for the TFO television channel. She is currently a host and cultural columnist for Ici Radio-Canada Premiere.
FILMMAKER Dominique has produced several short films that have distinguished themselves at numerous international festivals and have been sold to various broadcasters, including Jonathan Tremblay's L'air de vent (TIFF, FNC 2016); Pascal Plante's Nonna (Slamdance 2017) and Santiago Menghini's Red Wine (Fantasia 2019), which granted her the EVS award for best emerging producer.
FILMMAKER Co-founder of the production company Arpent Films, he has produced many short films including Le cri du lambi and Où vont les chats après 9 vies? He directed the short films Tout ira mieux, Je t'ai vu as well as the feature films Soft Gun and Moi sans toi.
FILMMAKER A graduate of Concordia University in Film Production and INIS, Sandrine is a director, content producer and author. She is the author of documentaries including Lise Watier, une vie à entreprendre (2015) and soon Mon oncle Patof (2020), broadcast on Radio-Canada. She wrote and produced a digital book launched at the Salon du livre de Montréal in 2015: the 210-page interactive biography of the famous entrepreneur Lise Watier. In 2018, Sandrine returned to her other love: the short narrative format. She writes and directs the 19-minute film Ange & Ovni, which immerses us in the life of Lili, 13 years old, who finds herself perfect in a world that is not perfect and who will meet the "Martian", a misfit teenager with whom she will develop a bond based on their imaginary worlds. The film continues its journey through festivals where it has won awards in France and the United States. Sandrine wants to make her next short film based on a script she didn't write. She is therefore looking for the author with whom to pair. She is interested in adolescence and the transition to adulthood, interiority, taboos and onirism.
WRITER Montreal writer Julie Hétu published her first novel in 2005...with wear and tear and Le destin littéraire des images (Éditions Art le Sabord). In 2011, she received the public prize for her audio book Baie Déception (Éditions Planète rebelle, 2009) from La plume de peacock at the Centre national du livre de Paris. In 2014, it will also publish the novel Mot (Éditions Triptyque), a finalist for the Prix France-Québec and the Prix Ringuet of the Académie des lettres du Québec. Released in April 2018, his novel Pacific Bell (Éditions Alto), inspired by an internship at La Nopalera, a ranch in Mexico's Oaxaca region, will be named best fiction of the year 2018 on the Apple Books list. Since 1998, Julie Hétu has been actively involved in the arts and literature community. She is participating in a collective book Le livre "produit culturel"? From the invention of print to the digital revolution (Éditions Orizons) in 2012 and publishes numerous critical texts and exhibition leaflets. In 2015, she completed a doctoral thesis on the acoustic environment of ornate Palaeolithic caves at Concordia University, where she combined her interests in art, speech and writing. In March 2016, she was invited as writer in residence at Villa Medici in Rome.
WRITER Sexologist, writer, lecturer, Marie-Christine Pinel has built up an experience of human sexuality in many contexts: research and prevention, consultation, humanitarian cooperation. She is co-founder and director of http://unisexeducation.com, the regional winner of the OSENTREPRENDRE challenge in 2016. In 2017, she received a Special Mention from the Jury for the Jovette Bernier Prize with her collection of short stories Fontaine de feu et autres mouillures published by Leméac. In 2019, she wrote and hosted La Table des rois, a series of documentary portraits produced by Essential Productions for TELUS' MaCommunauté channel.
WRITER Michèle Nicole Provencher has worked in the fields of music, media and advertising. She now knows that her knowledgeable babysitter course will have been more useful to her than her university studies. In 2017, she wrote and directed her first short film for the NFB, C'est quoi ton genre, produced by illustrator Maylee Keo. A Montrealer by adoption, she walks daily on street corners in the same quadrilateral, according to the changing moods of Celeri, an Italian Greyhuahua who pushes the limits of emotional blackmail. Tuesday as Tuesday will not be his last book.
WRITER Born on 21 March 1959 in Créteil (France), André Marois studied two months in visual arts and cinema at the University of Paris VIII, then two years by correspondence to obtain the brevet de technicien supérieur (BTS) in advertising, in 1981. He then did his military service as a draftsman for the Paris fire brigade, then became a copywriter in 1982 for various Parisian agencies.He emigrated to Quebec in 1992 to work as a copywriter.Since 1999, he has published black novels for adults, crime and science fiction novels for children and teenagers, as well as short stories and albums for the youngest. In 2013, his novel Les Voleurs de mémoire won the Prix jeunesse des Libraires du Québec. The graphic novel Le voleur de sandwiches illustrated by Patrick Doyon won the Governor General's Award in 2015, in the illustrated children's book category, and the Prix des Incorruptibles in France. Since 2006, he has been giving workshops/conferences to elementary, high school, CEGEP and university students on writing, detective stories, black novels and science fiction.
WRITER Julie Bosman, who holds a master's degree in literary studies from UQÀM, published Nous sommes bien seules in 2017 by Leméac, a collection of short stories for which she has interviewed fifteen single women of body and/or heart for a long time. In 2018, she published with the same publisher the children's novel M'étendre sur l'asphalte, featuring a twelve-year-old girl who, in 1982, was going through two tragic events. She is currently working on a new writing project.
WRITER Born in Montreal, Françoise Major is an author and translator. Her first book, Dans le noir jamais noir (La fuse, 2013), won the Adrienne Choquette Prize. In 2018, she published Le nombril de la lune (Le Cheval d'août), a collection that takes place entirely in Mexico City, where she lived for six years. She wrote the libretto for À chaque ventre son monstre, a non-lyrical opera by Montreal composer Gabriel Dharmoo, and is a member of the Quebecine MX, the Quebec film festival in Mexico.
FILMMAKER Christina Katsiadakis was born in Athens, Greece and she moved to Montreal in 2012. She holds a BA in History from the Athens University and an MA in Film from Goldsmiths College. She has been working in film and TV since 2004 as a production coordinator and production manager. In the last few years, she has started pursuing her personal creative projects, focusing on themes of history and the immigrant experience.
WRITER Author and translator, Olivier Sylvestre holds a bachelor's degree in criminology and a diploma in playwriting. At Hammock (Septentrion), he made fictional names appear, the desert, and a play, The Law of Gravity. His play Guide d'éducation sexuelle pour le nouveau millénaire will be premiered at Théâtre Denise-Pelletier in Montreal in 2020. He leads writing workshops and provides dramaturgical support.
FILMMAKER A graduate of Concordia University, Myriam Guimond is the director of Jade & Matteo and Partie de chasse. She is currently developing her first feature film.
FILMMAKER I’m a curious and a little anxious filmmaker who studied experimental film at Concordia University and fiction at L’Inis in Montreal.
