2022. The world’s population has exploded. Natural resources have been depleted. Food substitutes alleviate the spread of misery, while brutal police contain uprisings. A detective and an elderly intellectual are investigating a suspicious killing with sordid implications. Set in a chilling dystopia, this speculative-fiction masterpiece is a film you need to see on the big screen at least once in your life. While its predictions seemed overblown at the time, today they are disturbingly plausible. A waking nightmare with a deep humanist undercurrent, Soylent Green has aged wonderfully, thanks to its enduring philosophical and political potency. The screening on October 16th will be followed by a discussion with Bernard Lavallée (Nutritionniste urbain) & Caroline Huard (Loounie, vegan recipes creator) about the future of food, veganism and the causes of drawing on natural resources such as overpopulation.Presented by URBANIA
