FILMS FOR THE PLANET
Climate and environmental issues may be getting more attention these days, but they aren’t new. How has cinema seen our relationship with the environment?
This series revisits major fictional films that changed the way we see the world. They explore interconnected themes with great ambition, philosophical depth, and poetry: biodiversity, climate change, consumerism, eco-anxiety.
There’s nothing more powerful than film to move, frighten and delight us, to inspire us to think about our future – and to spur us into action.
Presented by Urbania.
- THE LAST WAVE, Peter Weir (1977)
- SILENT RUNNING, Douglas Trumbull (1972)
- SOYLENT GREEN, Richard Fleischer (1973)
- WIND ACROSS THE EVERGLADES, Nicholas Ray (1958)
- TAKE SHELTER, Jeff Nichols (2011)
- LONG WEEKEND, Colin Eggleston (1978)
- POM POKO, Isao Takahata (1994)
