Throughout the day, XR experts reflect on the state and future strategies of the medium. The aim is to identify challenges and find solutions for an overall XR ecosystem through three themes of creation, production and distribution of XR works.

Marie Blondiaux

Marie Blondiaux is producer and associate of Red Corner since 2012. She obtained 3 master degrees of Sciences-Po Paris and La Sorbonne (Comparative literature and Audiovisuel Law). She worked for the French national Board for Books, the Ministry of Culture, BBC Worldwide before joining Capa Agency as film and digital projects manager. She produced the Web and VR experiences : Phi, Wanted 18, Le dernier Gaulois, Radioactivity, Animals and us, SENS VR and 7 lives.

Nicolas S. Roy

Nicolas S. Roy is the Creative Director and Founding Partner at Dpt. Nicolas has been producing and implementing interactive projects in the cultural and commercial sector for more than 15 years. During his career, he has worked with institutions such as the National Film Board of Canada, Ubisoft, France Télévisions, Radio-Canada, Samsung and ARTE. His work is internationally recognized, with awards that include u Ars Electornica, Webbys, One Show Interactive Silver Pencil, FIPA d'Or, Applied Arts Interactive, Gémeaux, Communication Arts, Boomerangs and FWA as well as a nomination for a digital Emmy Award.
He is the executive producer of The Enemy project and has been involved in the production of the experiments These Sleepless Nights, A Colossal Wave, Deprogrammed, Trinity and Manic VR.

Tamara Shogaolu

Tamara Shogaolu is the founder and creative director of Ado Ato Pictures and is a member of the XRBASE virtual and augmented reality incubator. She is an international director and new media artist with a track record in featuring her work at film festivals, galleries, and museums worldwide, such as the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the National Gallery of Indonesia. Her innovative approach to storytelling has led to sources like The Guardian and Vogue Magazine naming her a leader in the field of new and immersive media. She is a 2018 Sundance Institute New Frontier Lab Programs Fellow and a 2019 Gouden Kalf Nominee. Shogaolu is an artist interested in pushing herself and others around her outside the boundaries of traditional storytelling. She strives to share stories across mediums, platforms, and virtual and physical spaces in order to promote cross-cultural understanding and challenge preconceptions. She was a Burton Lewis Endowed Scholar for Directing at the University of Southern California’s School of Cinematic Arts, where she graduated with an MFA. Shogaolu was also a Fulbright Scholar in Egypt, a Luce Scholar in Indonesia, and an Academy Nicholls Fellowship Semifinalist.

Fabien Siouffi

Fabien Siouffi is the founder of Fabbula, a creative practice dedicated to Immersive Media (Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, Mixed Reality) since 2015. Fabbula curate immersive art shows and events, represent artists and consult with organizations on their immersive futures. Fabbula also publishes online and printed essays, host a podcast of conversations with artists and regularly organize workshops in art schools, companies and institutions.

Myriam Achard

For the past 13 years, Myriam Achard has been working with Phoebe Greenberg promoting and developing the Canadian and international art scene. Head of New Media Partnerships and PR, she looks for innovative immersive works to bring to Montréal and ways to deploy Phi’s expertise
abroad.

Catherine Mathys

MODERATOR
Catherine Mathys has been working in the audiovisual production and media sector for nearly 20 years. Columnist, reporter and moderator, she has specialized in the last decade in the analysis of technological and media transformations. With a bachelor's degree in sociology and a master's degree in communication, she particularly enjoys observing our relationship to technology and its impact on our daily lives.

Mia Donovan

Mia Donovan is an award winning filmmaker and VR artist based in Montreal. She has written and directed three feature documentaries, INSIDE LARA ROXX (2011), DEPROGRAMMED (2015) and DOPE EQUALS DEATH (post-production). She was the recipient of the prestigious Don Haig Award for outstanding achievement as an emerging filmmaker in 2012. Her films have been presented worldwide at film festivals, on TV broadcasts, theatrically and on digital platforms such as Netflix. In 2016 she wrote and directed her first virtual reality experience called DEPROGRAMMED VR (2016) which won the coveted IDFA DocLab Award for Digital Storytelling that year. She is currently in production on her second VR experience called WELCOME TO LINCOLN DETOX and her first narrative feature film called THE TOUCH OF HER FLESH.

Toby Coffey

Toby Coffey is Head of Digital Development for the National Theatre. He established their Immersive Storytelling Studio to examine how Virtual Reality, 360° film, Augmented Reality and other emerging technologies can widen and enhance the NT’s remit to be a pioneer of dramatic storytelling.

Tammy Peddle

Marketing manager and distribution for interactive and digital productions at the NFB, Tammy currently leverages her vast experience to help emerging and established makers navigate the endless possibilities of digital and interactive technologies to tell their stories and reach audiences.

LAVERDE Dario

Dario Laverde is a senior developer evangelist at HTC with more than 25 years of software development experience in mobile and web applications, embedded systems and EE programming.

Fred Volhuer

As AtlasV’s CEO, but also as a Panelist in several VR conferences (Tribeca Film Festival, IFP Film week, Miami Filmgate, Mutek...) and a lecturer at MIT and Brooklyn College, Fred’s work exemplifies the expanding bridge between storytelling and technology. How we can continue to think about the integration of these new platforms as we build audiences for entertainment, brands and institutions. Before co-founding Atlas V, Fred started a consulting firm to support creative pieces in VR with marketing/distribution strategies, Shuttershades.io. He is also strategic advisor of several immersive technology companies. Formerly Partner, Member of Executive committee of WNP, one of the top-3 independent digital agencies in France. Fred joined WNP when it acquired a digital strategy agency Fred had founded in 2009.
