The Universidad de la Comunicación (UC), founded in 1976, is the first academic institution in Mexico centered in communication sciences and arts. The Black Canvas – Contemporary Film Festival is one of the best-established projects the UC has developed. The undergraduate program on Cinema Studies at the UC aims to inspire students to conceive and create freely from a personal aesthetic position, mid-way between cinema theories and a professional practice.
